FFXIV Evercold Delayed to February 23, 2027

Square Enix has pushed Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold out of its January 2027 window. The game’s sixth expansion will now launch on February 23, 2027, with early access for pre-orders starting February 19, 2027. Pre-orders open November 4, 2026.

Producer and director Naoki Yoshida announced the new date during the opening keynote of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo on October 30, 2026, alongside the full opening cinematic for the expansion. Yoshida framed the delay as extra polish time for the sweeping version 8.0 changes, saying the game would otherwise have been only just barely ready, and assured players there will be no further delays beyond February.

Zephyr: the new crossbow job

The Tokyo keynote also revealed Evercold‘s second new job: Zephyr, a physical ranged DPS that fights with a crossbow alongside an avian familiar called a Nephele. Zephyr starts at level 90, with its job quest located in Gridania, and its playstyle is described as very mobile and evasive. It joins Bastion, the expansion’s new main tank, which wields two greatshields known as skyltborg. Both new jobs will use the new Evolved battle mode only.

New areas, crossovers, and the road to 8.0

Evercold takes players to the Fourth reflection, with new areas including Sessrymnir, Realmship of Earth, and Skioblaonir, Realmship of Wind, plus a new city, Fargarth. The level cap rises from 100 to 110. The keynote also showed an Evangelion crossover raid series, “Ghosts of Desire,” and a Final Fantasy VII crossover raid series. Square Enix also confirmed the game has passed 35 million registered accounts.

Collector’s Edition and pre-order bonuses

The Evercold Collector’s Bundle includes an Evercold Special Art Box featuring artwork by Yoshitaka Amano, an expertly crafted Reaper figure, an Ethos metal keychain, a Köttr mini plush, and a Tapestry of the Fourth, plus the digital Collector’s Edition items: the Crystal Skyltborg Bastion weapon, the Vallhallar Odin mount, and the Entreat Crystal emote. Players who pre-order any edition will also receive a Wind-Up Kottr minion and a Halone’s Earring accessory.

Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold launches February 23, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC/Mac, with early access from February 19 for pre-orders.
