Battlefield 6 Season 5 Invades Vegas Today

Sin City is officially a warzone. Battlefield 6’s fifth content season, Siege of Las Vegas, goes live today, October 13, and it drops the fight into the Nevada desert with two brand-new maps, four new weapons, a faster flavor of battle royale, and a Halloween surprise pulled straight from Dead Space.

The update (version 2.1.1.0) starts rolling out at 8:00 UTC, with the seasonal content itself switching on at 12:00 UTC. Phase 1 is all about Las Vegas: the Vegas Strip map turns the famous boulevard into an urban battleground, with street fights weaving through multi-story casinos, hotels, restaurants, and tunnels. Then there’s Area 51, which trades neon for open desert – wide sightlines above ground, claustrophobic underground bunkers below, and tank battles in between.

Four new firearms arrive with the season: the MK24 multi-role assault rifle, the compact RSPR submachine gun built for speed, the belt-fed Z84M light machine gun with a 100-round drum for mowing down squads, and the ELR-40, a bolt-action sniper rifle tuned for open ground like Area 51.

Battlefield’s free-to-play battle royale, REDSEC, gets its own shake-up. Rapid Royale debuts on the Vegas Strip as a compact, faster-paced take on the mode: smaller player counts, quicker rounds, and redeploy tokens earned by taking enemies down – though the kill cost rises as the match wears on. A new ranked battle royale season begins alongside it, and the REDSEC Open and Elite Series tournaments return, with the Elite Series carrying a global prize pool of $1,338,000.

If you’ve been waiting to jump in, there’s a good excuse this week: PlayStation and Steam players get free access to all modes and maps from October 15 through 19.

And just in time for Halloween, a limited-time event called Convergence runs October 20 through November 7 – a Battlefield x Dead Space crossover. Pax Armata is hunting secret technology hidden beneath Area 51, in a scenario with environments adapted from the 2023 Dead Space remake, a 16-player PvE fight against infected Obelisk soldiers, and themed cosmetics to unlock. EA calls it a non-canon celebration rather than a continuation of Isaac Clarke’s story. Notably, it arrives while a proper Dead Space sequel remains unannounced – the remake earned critical praise, but its commercial performance apparently wasn’t enough to greenlight another mainline entry.

The season stretches into December in three phases: Phase 2, Casino Heist, hits November 10 with a close-quarters European Casino map full of destructible environments, and Phase 3, Frozen Aces, lands December 8 with an unexpected freeze over Las Vegas and a new operation spanning the Vegas Strip and Area 51 maps.
