Free Games This Week: Sker Ritual and Home Lead the Haul

Halloween came early to the Epic Games Store. Two horror games are free to keep right now: Sker Ritual and Home: A Unique Horror Adventure. Both are free until Thursday, October 29 at 11:00 AM ET, which is 11:00 AM here in Puerto Rico too. Claim each one on your Epic account before the deadline and they stay in your library forever.

Sker Ritual is the headliner. The round-based co-op survival shooter from Wales Interactive is a spin-off of the award-winning British horror game Maid of Sker. You fight waves of the Quiet Ones solo or with up to 4 players, upgrading steampunk weapons and collecting Celtic Miracles, a network of god powers. It normally costs $24.99 and holds a Very Positive rating on Steam.

Home is the quieter half of the pair, and it is just as worth your time. The pixel-art murder mystery from BancyCo wakes you in a strange house that is not yours, and your choices decide what really happened. The game shifts subtly to reflect your perspective, so your ending may differ from everyone else’s. It normally costs $4.99, which puts the pair’s combined value at $29.98.

To claim them, sign in to the Epic Games Store, open each game’s page, and claim them separately. The next free game is Sorry We’re Closed, which runs from October 29 to November 5.

Two more free trials end today, so do not sit on them. Riders Republic’s fifth-anniversary free weekend runs through today, October 26, but Ubisoft never announced the exact closing hour, so do not leave your last session for tonight. DeadPoly is free to play on Steam until 1:00 PM AST today.

One thing that is already over: the Xbox Free Play Days trials, including Dying Light 2, Let’s Build a Zoo, and Tropico 6, ended Sunday night. If you missed those, the Epic pair is the haul to grab before Thursday.
