Digital Extremes is dropping the invite wall on Soulframe. Soulframe Open Preludes opens to all Windows PC players on November 6, 2026, ending nearly two years of invite-only testing for the free-to-play fantasy action RPG from the Warframe studio.
How to get in
The opening was announced on Devstream 18 on October 30. From November 6, anyone can sign up on the official Soulframe website and download the studio’s own launcher — no key needed. This is not a Steam release: the Steam page is wishlist-only, and there is no console version in this phase, with no final release date announced.
Access had been invite-only since 2023, with new players mostly let in around TennoCon each year. Creative director Geoff Crookes said the new mounts and world-progression systems made this the right time to gather wider feedback.
What new players will find
New arrivals land in a game with 16 Preludes chapters already in place, covering the lore, the characters, and how the game plays. Its story quests are called Fables. The paid Founders program stays unchanged once open access begins.
Verse of the Veilands follows later in November
Open Preludes arrives just ahead of Preludes 17, titled Verse of the Veilands, expected later in November with no exact date announced. The update reworks world progression around purifying regions as the land of Midrath turns hostile, and adds the Ode Shrike Pact. Purify two regions and players can raise an Omen wolfpup into a rideable Omen Wolf mount.
The Bita’s Eve event also returns, with a headless horse-riding mini-boss named Veltruska and a new Sunken Terror fish to catch.
