Fortnite Power Hours Tonight: Freddy Glove, More Sprites

Fortnitemares 2026 is not done yet. Epic is running a special Trick or Treat Power Hours event today, Saturday, October 17, with two rounds that hand every player a powerful weapon from the moment they drop in — and make the season’s Halloween Sprites much easier to find.

The headline boost is Freddy’s Nightmare. Normally you have to track down and beat Freddy Krueger to earn his bladed glove. During Power Hours, everyone spawns with an enhanced version already in hand. While it is equipped, you move faster and can slash through opponents who are not expecting a fight in the first seconds of a match.

The second boost is for collectors. The Trick or Treat Sprite variant shows up more often during the event, so this is the best window yet to fill out that part of your collection. Sprites are a big part of Chapter 7 Season 4, and the Trick or Treat versions add a candy-hunting bonus on top of each Sprite’s usual power.

Chests get a boost too. During Power Hours, 1-Up Tokens and Portable Extractors can drop from chests. A 1-Up Token gives you a second life, and a Portable Extractor lets you pull Sprites from opponents. Both can swing a match, so landing near chest-heavy areas pays off.

Start times

Round one kicked off at 2 PM ET (3 PM Atlantic). Round two starts tonight at 9 PM ET, which is 10 PM in Puerto Rico and 1 AM UTC on Sunday. Epic has not said exactly how long each round lasts, so if you want in, drop in right at the start time rather than fashionably late.

How to make the most of it

Land where the loot is. Pumpkin chests are your best bet for Sprites, and busy points of interest like Nightmare Neighborhood pack in chests and smashable pumpkins. Smash everything, open everything, and keep an eye out for Cheat Codes too. If you are chasing a specific Sprite, the boosted spawn rate during Power Hours beats grinding at any other time.

One more reason not to wait: Chapter 7 Season 4 wraps up on October 31, and Fortnitemares goes with it. Tonight’s Power Hours are one of the last easy chances to grab the Trick or Treat Sprites before the season turns over.
