Red Dead Redemption is leaving Netflix Games on December 2, 2026, exactly one year after it arrived on the service. Netflix confirmed the removal date this week, and once the date passes, the game stops working for subscribers, even if it is still installed on their phones.
The Netflix version arrived on December 2, 2025, and it gave subscribers the full 2010 Rockstar western: John Marston’s hunt across the frontier, plus the Undead Nightmare expansion, all rebuilt with touch controls for phones. It never included the original multiplayer, but it was the complete single-player game, free with a subscription.
Netflix removes games as their licenses expire, and Red Dead Redemption is the latest big name to go that way. The service has lost Rockstar games before, and the pattern is the same every time: the app keeps working until the listed date, then it stops. There is no extension coming, and Netflix has not said it plans to renew the license.
The sting is in the saves. Progress from the Netflix version does not carry over to the standalone version Rockstar sells on the App Store and Google Play for $39.99. Anyone still working through the story will need to start over if they buy it, or finish before December 2.
The game was one of the biggest Netflix ever landed. It passed 10 million downloads by February 2026, and it stayed free for subscribers the whole year. The removal also lands just two weeks after GTA 6 launches on November 19, so Rockstar fans lose one classic right as the next one arrives.
Players who have not finished John Marston’s story have just under a month to do it. After December 2, the only way to play Red Dead Redemption on a phone is the $39.99 standalone version.
