Throne and Liberty’s Opt-Out Deadline Hits October 30

Throne and Liberty is about to change publishers, and one decision has a hard clock on it. Amazon Game Studios is handing the western service of the MMORPG back to NC on November 10, and players who want no part of the data transfer must file an opt-out request before October 30. Those who opt out keep nothing: characters, progression, and inventory all stay behind.

Amazon laid out the timeline in a service transition notice posted on the game’s official site and on Steam on October 9. For players who do nothing, the move is automatic: characters, items, in-game currency, and account entitlements carry over, and they simply accept NC’s terms when the handover is done. Opting out is the one action players have to take — and it cannot be undone. Anyone who returns later under NC’s operation starts from scratch.

There is a wrinkle worth knowing. The notice states the opt-out cutoff twice: once as a flat “before October 30” deadline, and once saying players can opt out “until the transition day” — which is November 10. With the two statements 11 days apart, treating October 30 as the real deadline is the only safe reading. Requests go through a support form on Amazon’s Throne and Liberty site and require an active Amazon Games ID with a linked platform account.

Two milestones land before the handover. On October 26, the Auction House shuts down until the transition is complete: any active listings get canceled and delivered to the NPC Storage Manager, even if that pushes players past their normal capacity limits, and pending Lucent from completed sales is credited back. That same day, Celebration Packs, Character Boosts, and Lucent packs come off the Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation stores and the in-game shop. Anything already owned transfers normally; NC will share shop details after the switch.

Platform life mostly continues as usual. Cross-play survives the move, platform accounts stay the same, and NC’s PURPLE launcher joins Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox as a way in, with cross-progression between Steam and PURPLE. Xbox players have one extra step: the current app has been renamed “Throne and Liberty AGS,” and after the transition they will need to install the new NC-published version. One server region is being renamed from Japan, Oceania to Asia, Oceania.

Guilds get special attention, because opting out affects other people too. Members who opt out are removed from their guild, leadership passes down the automatic succession order if the leader leaves, and a guild that loses every member is disbanded automatically. Duplicate character names created by the merge are settled by Combat Power, then by total playtime — the losing character gets a random name plus one rename ticket.

Amazon says exact maintenance start times and downtime estimates for November 10 will be shared closer to the date. Until then, the calendar is clear: October 26 for the Auction House and shop freeze, October 30 for the opt-out cutoff, and November 10 for the move itself.
