Variety reports, citing multiple sources, that the secret project DICE and Respawn Entertainment are building together is Star Wars: Battlefront 3 — the sequel fans have been asking about for almost a decade.
EA itself confirmed the collaboration in an internal memo during its October 21 restructuring: Battlefield studio DICE and Apex Legends studio Respawn are teaming up on an unnamed title that will help build a “shooter portfolio that unlocks growth.” EA did not name the game — only the partnership is confirmed.
DICE built the modern Battlefront series: the 2015 reboot and Battlefront II in 2017. Battlefront II famously survived its loot-box launch controversy, won fans back, and enjoyed a huge player resurgence in 2025, with players openly campaigning for a third game.
EA has not officially announced Battlefront 3. But with the studio pairing confirmed in EA’s own memo and Variety’s sources pointing the same way, fans finally have real reason to hope.
