Bethesda has finally named The Elder Scrolls 6. The next game is called The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel.
Revealed at the 40th anniversary
Todd Howard revealed the name and logo at the end of a video celebrating 40 years of Bethesda Game Studios. The video looks back at the studio’s history, from its start in Bethesda, Maryland to today. The reveal itself is just the logo, with an ancient scroll rising from the sand. No gameplay, no release window, and no platforms were shown.
The Hammerfell clue
But the name carries a big clue about where the game takes place. Sentinel is the capital city of Hammerfell, homeland of the Redguards. The reveal pairs the title with a passage from Yazar, Moth Priest to High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell, dated 4E 206 — five years after the events of Skyrim. Bethesda has not formally confirmed Hammerfell as the setting, so treat it as a strong hint, not a promise.
Still years away
The game was first teased back at E3 2018, eight years ago. It is now Bethesda’s primary focus, built on Creation Engine 3. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier warns it is still more than 2 years away, so the wait is not over yet. Bethesda also announced an Elder Scrolls Online Golden Pursuit campaign, “Alik’r Awaits,” running until November 10.
